MediaTomb is a UPnP server Free Software License that pose a nice web interface and allows the network through your home, business office or streaming digital content to be heard or seen in a wide variety of UPnP compatible devices.

  • Installation
  • In Debian or Ubuntu derivatives as the installation is extremely easy. Simply run:
  • aptitude install mediatomb

Thus, the above command will install and prepare the server. Settings

now to indicate which files can be used to access the web interface. This will get selected Applications> Sound & Video.> Mediatomb , as shown in the image below:

This will open your browser to the web interface MediaTomb. To add new material to be server must navigate the Linux file system by

click on "Filesystem

." Then select the files that will be shown in the UPnP devices by pressing the "plus" as we see:

Once we have selected the content, we can verify what is seen in devices where the media will play. To do this press on the "

Database" and then select the folder

"Video" as can be seen:
